Toy Photography: a New and Easy Way of Doing It!

Let me guess… You are a great lover of collectible figures. Maybe you started with a few ones, and then you could never stop. I understand you… Been there, done that.

Apart from collecting toys and figures so many collectors also love showing them to the world, taking creative shots and sharing them on their social media. And how can you blame them! Collectible figures come in so many shapes and sizes and some of them are just too creative and cute to be kept in a box and left on a shelf!

After all, some of the most popular brands of collectible figurines are designing more and more figures with dynamic poses, which seems naturally calling people to take pictures of them – Nendoroid by Good Smile Company, Funko Pop, Pop Mart global and their designer toys, just to mention some.

Let’s admit it

We love collecting figurines and toys probably because they remind us of our childhood! And toy photography is a way that adults have found to “play” with them… in a grown-up way. There is no shame in that! Who are people to tell us how to be happy!

How can we solve the problem?

Something that can really help us giving our toy photography a lot more of personality is the use of a good backdrop! It seems like such a “basic” thing but it can really change the quality of our shot! And you don’t necessarily need a camera to do that! Your phone’s camera will do perfectly! Almost everyone today has a smartphone that takes perfectly fine pictures! So you do not need expensive equipment to improve your shots and have some fun!

But, sometimes our creativity is held back by the lack of time or of an appropriate setting for our figures- sometimes we are really inspired to take pictures but the result is missing something, we cannot quite say what but we feel that we’d like to say much more with our shots than what we are actually saying.
